So what makes Xiaomi’s Air Purifier 2 noteworthy? For this, I’ve put together a comprehensive Xiaomi Air Purifier 2 review for UAE.

The Mi Air Purifier 2 poses as an intelligent product that connects to the smart home appliances. The IoT run device makes cleaning the air in your home effortless. It features a 360-degree filter that has 3 layers. Ensuring even tiny particles do not remain afloat. Further, the device allows real-time monitoring and timer schedules upon downloading the Mi Home app. You gain an increased amount of control and flexibility with 4 different modes that include manual and automatic settings.

High levels of air pollution

The pollution crisis across the globe is a rising issue. In the UAE the air is not as hazardous when compared to other places in Asia such as Delhi, Mumbai, Faridabad in India, and Islamabad in Pakistan. However, places like Abu Dhabi and Dubai do raise concerns as the pollution level is above 152 and 169 respectively. The unhealthy amounts of pollution according to the AQI gives us an understanding that the air we breathe isn’t as clean as we thought it to be. You don’t need a layer of soot smudged across your forehead to know the air is polluted.

A lot of this pollution is contributed to excessive construction and vehicular exhaust. Further, UAE is prone to sand and dust storms which can cause bacteria and other allergens to travel great distances in a short span of time. Allergic rhinitis is a common complaint and nearly one in five suffer from it. Further, these allergens can act as triggers and cause the development of asthma or other respiratory illnesses. The most susceptible are children and the elderly due to weaker immune systems.

If you care about aesthetic appeal the Mi Air Purifier 2 will definitely hold your interest.

Flamboyant design

The Mi Air Purifier 2 has a sylphlike frame with intricate design elements that are eye-catching. The product has very little that screams out loud so it maintains its elegance with a rather minimalist design. Compared to its competition the purifier performs similar functions. Pulling in the air from all four sides and releases treated air from the top. However, its looks set it apart! Even when compared to the original Mi purifier it is 40% lighter and sleeker. Needless to say, your Mi Air Purifier 2 easily adds to your home’s decor. You can place it on top of a coffee table or cabinet or fill out a space close to where you spend your time.

What kind of pollutants exists?

If you’ve been hunting for air purifiers and read multiple reviews then you’ve probably come across PM 10 and PM 2.5. If you don’t know what they mean, you aren’t alone so let’s clear that up first.

  • PM 10: These particles are pollutants which are 10 microns in size. To understand better, that’s roughly the size of human hair. PM 10 particles can include things such as dust, pollen, and mold.
  • PM 2.5: These particles are pollutants that are 2.5 microns in size. Now here is where it gets a bit tricky. They are small, so small in fact that they measure 1/30th the size of a human hair strand. Naturally, they are invisible to the naked eye. PM 2.5 pollutants are even more dangerous as they can go deep into our system. They can affect our lungs, bloodstream, and have implications on our health, both in the short and long run.

Okay, so now you understand there are teeny-weeny particles afloat that are bad! Which probably makes you wonder…..

How does the Mi Air Purifier 2 help?

You’ve already read about the whacky 360-degree coverage and 3-layer filter to rid the air of pollutants. Well, the HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) filter removes particles larger than 0.3 microns. It also contains an activated carbon filter that removes bad odor and other harmful substances in your home.

Needless to say, the Mi Air Purifier 2 removes a range of particles such as dust, pollen, pet fur, mold, gases, and more. It restores the quality of air in less than 15 minutes based on the level of pollution. Odors from cooking and smoke from incense sticks are removed effortlessly. The filter can last up to 6 months and replacing the filter is fairly simple. You can buy new filters online from Amazon or the Mi website.

The best part about the filter is the device keeps track, by way of a running clock, of how many more days the filter will last. When a change is due, the device automatically informs you about the same.

Here are a few more reasons why you should consider the Xiaomi Air Purifier 2 when buying an air purifier.

Sound levels

An air purifier does not have a standard place. You could opt to place it in your living room, across your kitchen counter, or even on your bedside table. If you’re watching your favorite show or a match then you wouldn’t want the incessant sound of an air purifier interrupting your concentration. The same can be said about when you’re looking towards a good night’s rest. Luckily for you, the Mi Air Purifier 2 is as silent as they get. Even on higher speed settings, the purifier makes a little sound which is unlikely to spoil your slumber.

The company claims the air purifier produces a noise level lower than 30db when set on night mode. That is as silent as a person’s whisper and softer than the sound a computer makes while running. Unless you pay attention to hear it, you most likely won’t.

Smart Device

As mentioned above the device connects with your home network. As such, you can connect it to your smartphone to access greater flexibility. Once linked you can remotely turn your air purifier on and off as well as control the settings. Further, through the app, you can monitor real-time air pollution levels and set timers. The best part you can use an Android or an iPhone device.

To pair it, simply press the button that is located at the back of the purifier and hold it for a few seconds. Wait for the light to start blinking and then proceed to open the app on your phone and complete the pairing via WiFi.

Performance

Okay! Yes, we’ve spoken about how the device is great and enough but really how does it measure up? Xiaomi claims that the Mi Air Purifier 2 takes no more than 10 minutes to take in polluted air and circulate purified air in a 21m2 room. I’m not that great with sizes and numbers but in about 15-17 mins my room was brought down to an AQI of 35. Given that outside air is 160+ I sleep a lot better at night.

Stay breezy

It is deeply saddening that an air purifier is no longer a luxury item that elite member of society decorates their homes with. The quality of our environment (emphasis on air) has deteriorated to a point that having an air purifier is detrimental to maintaining health. As it becomes the need of the hour having an air purifier of swell design and offering value for money is what is required. Xiaomi’s Air Purifier 2 does cater to those needs. It is silent, sleek, great at purifying the air, and connects to your smartphone. If someone in your household has an allergy or suffers from respiratory issues then consider looking at
