Design and quality
As usual for Xiaomi, build quality is great. Lamp frame is made from aluminum and its casing is covered in durable silicone, which gives it solid toughness and makes it lightweight at the same time – lamp weighs only about 1 kg. In comparison, a similar model of a desk lamp produced under the Ikea brand weighs at least half kilogram more. Silicone handle is covered with an anti-UV varnish layer, which is especially important because it is white and otherwise exposed to sunlight for long periods of time would cause it to become dull or even grayish.
Adjustable handle that connects the main body to LEDs is and made from food grade silicone. Ss claimed by the manufacturer, it can be buckled up to 10 000 times, which corresponds to at least 20-30 years of use. Luminance
The light source in the Xiaomi Philips Eyecare Smart is an LED that glows with uniform lighting. Most low-cost LEDs glows unnatural white-blue light, but in this case the color range and brightness have been set in accordance with the IESNA (Illuminating Engineering Society of North America) standards to ensure that light is healthy for the eyes and fosters productivity. The effective illumination radius is 90 cm and the light intensity is about 300 lux in this range.
In addition, at the back of the device you will also find additional LED with lower brightness, which works as general, non-point lighting. The combination of these two light sources makes it possible to use it not only as a desktop lamp but also for the bedroom or other rooms – especially with the adjustable stand that you can freely adjust.
Control
Lamp control is simple. On the touch panel you’ll find find seven buttons: main power switch, rear light switch, four brightness levels and smart mode switch. The latter switch automatically adjusts the brightness according to the outside light and smoothly adjusts the illumination along with the dusk.
And if that’s not enough for you, Xiaomi-Philips offers yet another method of control through Mi Home app. This popular smartphone application connects with many Xiaomi intelligent home devices and allows for stepless adjustment of brightness.
